A laughter session is made up of a series of gentle exercises - and lots of laughter! Whilst each session can be a different experience, each one follows a basic structure that is repeated throughout:
Clapping in rhythm while chanting "ho ho ha ha ha"
Breathing deeply
Simulate specific life situations replacing words with laughter
Repeat these steps
The first part of the session lasts around an hour and each session varies slightly, changing to meet the needs and requirements of that particular group of participants. Gentle physical movements are sometimes incorporated into the session.
We end the session with a 'laughter meditation'. Everyone sits on the floor (or a chair if needed) in silence for a few minutes followed by a final round of fake laughing until a natural laugh starts to flow. No words are spoken.
